Lori Ruff
Operations and Training Coordinator, Document Solutions of North Carolina
Microsoft Office Specialist
Microsoft® Office Specialist certification brings knowledge and a substantial raise to Lori Ruff, Operations and Training Coordinator for Document Solutions of North Carolina (NC), an off-site administrative and business support service company.
From administrative tasks to database and office management, Ruff's job is based on Microsoft Office skills. Though she already had advanced skills in these applications, she chose to pursue Microsoft Office certification to validate this knowledge to her clients. She explains, "Many people know Microsoft Office programs, but certification lends more credibility and allows you to prove those skills. Our clients are incredibly impressed when they see the word 'Microsoft' on anything."
Since certification, Lori has been offered several positions, but chooses to stay with her current employer because of their commitment and support of continued education. "We encourage and pay for our employees to become Microsoft Office certified because it is a win-win for both parties," said Dorothy Brunk, Office Manager.
Document Solutions of NC backs up their support by guaranteeing Ruff a substantial bonus upon completion of the five core certification exams for Office 2000. The bonus will be based on the actual business increase, which is anticipated to be 15 percent. Brunk explains why certification is a worthwhile investment, "When employees increase their knowledge it increases our business performance and image as a company."
Ruff is also given half an hour a day to train and practice for her next certification exam. "This time has proven invaluable in my continued success. I will continue to certify with Microsoft, I've already seen the benefits of this program."
