Microsoft Office Specialist
David MacKneer pursued Microsoft® Office Specialist certification to become a more productive employee for Empire Medicare Services. As Business Analyst, MacKneer recognized the need to develop a Microsoft Access database to effectively analyze and automate the company's monthly report. After receiving supervisor approval, he arranged for an Access training course at New Horizons Computer Learning Center.
Because MacKneer had not been in a classroom in years and had no experience with Access, he was extremely intimidated to take the course. His fears were quickly dispelled when he began the class and found quality instructors who clearly explained new concepts and gave all the personal attention he needed. The positive training experience at New Horizons encouraged him to continue on with other training courses, and soon he successfully passed Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Access certification exams.
His training and certification paid off immediately! He was able to automate the company's monthly report and reduce a task that usually required a day and a half to just one hour! He explains, "Microsoft Office training and certification gives me the ability to use all the tools at my fingertips to choose which program or format works best for a particular project."
MacKneer's supervisor recognizes that his training and certification continues to pay off. "Microsoft Office Specialist certification has sharpened David's already-strong technical skills, allowing him to work more quickly and efficiently with his day-to-day tasks." MacKneer will continue learning and adding value to his department as he finishes his Master level certification for Microsoft Office 2000 and Microsoft Project 2000 certification.
