Microsoft Office Specialist
Microsoft® Office Specialist training and certification caught the attention of Andrea Webb and quickly started her on the road to increased pay, position, and knowledge at First Union National Bank.
Webb began at the bank as a receptionist, but soon set her sights to interview for an administrative assistant position to Vice President Randall Brown. When asked of her knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Webb confidently responded that she knew the programs inside and out.
Following the successful interview, Webb rushed to the nearest bookstore, purchased Microsoft Office manuals, and began cramming for her new position. Soon, she decided to earn Microsoft Office certification and further prepared by enrolling in training classes offered through the Tulsa Technology Center.
Brown fully supported Webb's goal of training and pursuing certification. "It just makes good business sense to support and pay for employee training and certification. It gives them increased satisfaction in their position, while improving office efficiency and productivity. This certification is proof of Andrea's skills."
Brown says Webb went from a 20 percent Microsoft Office knowledge base to a 75 percent knowledge base, following the certification process. "I have always had a high opinion of Office programs. Andrea's experience with Microsoft Office certification has personally validated that with the proper knowledge, these are the tools needed to get the job done right."
Following certification, Webb received a raise and promotion to Business Analyst. With her knowledge of Microsoft Office, she now determines and improves business processes for the bank. She is challenged on a daily basis by upper management to complete tasks, manipulate data and reports, and support the Microsoft Office needs of her co-workers.
Webb attributes the majority of her advancement to the knowledge obtained through training and certification. "Microsoft Office certification has helped me tremendously, both professionally and personally-I recommend it to everyone! It has given me the foundation to move to the next step in my knowledge path-earning Microsoft Outlook and Project 2000 certification."
