What is a Microsoft Office Subject Matter Expert?
Microsoft Office Subject Matter Experts (Office SMEs) are savvy and experienced users
of Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointŪ in organizational
and teaching environments. The Microsoft Office Specialist certification program recruits Office
SMEs to help develop high-quality certification exams on a contractual basis.
Certification exam development responsibilities include:
Writing relevant, performance-based exam content for the workplace or classroom.
Reviewing exam content for technical accuracy and difficulty.
Participating in the revision and refinement of exam content.
Responding to standard-setting surveys and other inquiries.
Meeting delivery deadlines.
Required skills include:
Fluency in the English language, with excellent grammar and vocabulary skills.
Significant experience using Microsoft Office programs in a work or classroom environment.
Ability to express technical expertise and professional experience in writing.
Ability to constructively respond to technical and editorial feedback.
