Earn College Credit with Microsoft Office Specialist Certification
Microsoft Office Specialist certifications for Microsoft Word 2000, Microsoft
Word version 2002, Microsoft Excel 2000, Microsoft Excel version 2002, Microsoft
PowerPoint® 2000, Microsoft PowerPoint® version 2002, Microsoft Access
2000, Microsoft Access version 2002, Microsoft Outlook® 2000, Microsoft Outlook® version
2002 have each been recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) for
one semester hour of lower division, college credit. Additionally, Microsoft
Project 2000 and Microsoft Project version 2002 have been recommended for one
semester hour of lower or upper division college credit.
Individuals who currently hold or are pursuing Office Specialist certification
for Microsoft Office 2000, Microsoft Office XP (2002) and/or Microsoft Project
2000 or Microsoft Project version 2002 programs will be able to apply for college
credit through ACE member institutions.
Interested students must pass an Office Specialist certification exam for
one or more Microsoft Office programs and have their certification listed
on an
ACE Credit by Examination Transcript. Ultimately, the college or university
you attend (or plan to attend) will independently decide whether to grant
credit and waive associated tuition requirements, however, ACE member institutions
give considerable weight to ACE credit recommendations. Contact your institution,
or the institution you plan to attend, and inquire about their policy.
With the cost per college credit hour ranging from $275-$750, high school,
vocational school, community college and 4-year college students can save
time and money toward a college degree with Office Specialist certification.
