North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's Annual Workforce Development Summer Conference 2002

July 15-19, 2002

Certiport was glad to participate in this year's conference and introduce the IC³ certification to North Carolina's Department of Public Instruction. The IC³ program was spotlighted in several breakout sessions and round-table discussions. In addition, attendees were able to get hands-on experience by taking the IC³ exams. In the end, over 300 IC³ exams were delivered and 80 teachers certified. Below are several comments from attendees who participated in the IC³ testing:

"I really liked this experience [IC³ testing]. This should be in our exit exam. —Person County

"Every student and teacher should take this exam. Students for the exit exam and teachers for staff development which will identify if someone has a minimum proficiency." —Gaston County

"The questions were fair… We need this for both students and teachers." —Wake County

"This was exactly what you said it would be, your 2 years of research from around the world has paid off. The questions were hard enough, but not too hard. Yes, they do prove literacy." —Guilford County

"I wanted to take these exams myself so I can give valid feedback to my superintendent. I loved this & now I need to find my superintendent so we can get started." —Nash County

"This needs to be part of the high school exit requirement and be in the 8th grade technology exit exam." —Onslow County

"Every 8th or 9th grader should take this & teachers too." —Chapel Hill County

"This would be a great way to test student literacy after Computer Applications I." —Chatham County
