Accommodation of Disabilities

As a worldwide provider of software certification tests, it is the philosophy of Certiport that anyone with the desire should have the opportunity to certify their knowledge and ability to use computer desktop applications through testing. Certiport, accordingly, embraces the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") as well as the regulations and guidelines selected to effectuate its goals.

In keeping with this commitment, Certiport has taken steps and, on an ongoing basis, will explore expansions and refinements of its products and services to enable ever greater numbers of certification candidates with documented disabilities (those recognized under the ADA) to register for, schedule and take certification tests.

Under ADA guidelines, however, Certiport and its Centers are entitled to advance notification of requests for accommodation(s) as well as a reasonable amount of time to review and implement such requests. Certiport and its Centers are not obligated, moreover, to accommodate candidates with language limitations unrelated to a documented disability (i.e.; English as a second language, literacy, etc.), nor to provide unlimited time for the completion of tests that are designed to certify not only knowledge but also efficiency in the use of desktop computer applications.

Requests for Accommodations
The ADA guarantees equal access to programs and services to individuals that suffer from a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more "major life activities." To access these rights, however, individuals are required to present documentation of a disability that substantially limits some major life activity, including learning.

Accordingly, to avoid or reduce time delays in decision making related to the provision of services, certification candidates must provide a Certiport Center with a Disability Exam Accommodation Authorization Form. The Center will complete that form and send it to Certiport, along with an ADA Exam Reimbursement Form. Additionally, accommodation requests involving extended testing time, a separate testing room, a test recorder or test assistant, certification candidates must supply appropriate supporting documentation, completed and signed by a qualified professional.
