Department of Veterans Affairs To Reimburse Eligible Military Personnel and Veterans For Microsoft Office Specialist Certification
SALT LAKE CITY (November 21, 2002) — Certiport today announced that the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) has approved cost reimbursement to eligible active duty military personnel, veterans and their family members for the cost of taking Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams. More than two million individuals qualifying for Montgomery GI Bill benefits are eligible for reimbursement.
This government approval demonstrates that Microsoft Office skills are essential to success in today's academic and workplace environments. Furthermore, this approval confirms the value of increased workplace competence, effectiveness and credibility for holders of the Microsoft Office Specialist certification. The VA reports that since it began reimbursing test costs required to obtain or renew a license or certification in a variety of technical fields two years ago, certification in information technology has been "by far the most popular use of that benefit."
