Orange County (FL) Public Schools Select InfoSource IC³ Training for Teachers
WINTER PARK, FL (November 5, 2003) - InfoSource, Inc., developer of How To Master learning management, training,
skills-assessment, and content authoring tools, today announced that it has been selected as the sole and exclusive provider
of IC³ training for more than 12,000 teachers in the Orange County, Florida school district.
IC³, the Internet and Computing Core Certification, is fully aligned with the National Educational Technology Standards
(NETS) for both teachers and students, and is designed to help teachers learn about technology so that they can incorporate
computers and software more effectively in their classrooms.
Thomas Warrner, President of InfoSource, said, "Orange County is one of the 15 largest school districts in the country, and
their adoption of our IC³ online training indicates that we offer a solution geared to the needs of educators and school systems.
With over 12,000 teachers and a goal of having a large percentage obtain the certification, we're pleased to help Orange County
improve the technological capabilities in its schools."
George Perreault, Director of Educational Technology for Orange County, stated, "We've been searching for online solutions to
help teachers become technologically proficient. The fact that the InfoSource material is ISTE-aligned, cost-effective, and
performance based, makes this technology literacy initiative an affordable reality."
IC³ is often the first certification teachers, and others, pursue to demonstrate computing skills competence. It is the first
globally validated certification for basic computer literacy. Eventually, Orange County would also like to have all of its students
become part of the IC³ training and testing process.
David Saedi, President of Certiport, reiterated Orange County's choice by stating, "We are excited about Orange County's selection
of IC³, as this reaffirms the growing acceptance among teachers for our standard and that InfoSource's training solution provides just
the right formula for achieving Orange County's goal of educating teachers and students about technology."
