Certiport To Provide IC³ Certification Program Through Manpower Inc.'S Workforce Development Initiative
TechReach to offer new IC³ certification to program participants

SALT LAKE CITY (October 2, 2002) — Certiport, Inc., the leading provider of global, performance-based certification programs and services, today announced that Manpower Inc., a world leader in the staffing industry, will implement Certiport's Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³) program in its workforce development program, TechReach. IC³ validates basic knowledge and ability to productively use computer hardware, software and the Internet.

TechReach targets people with barriers to employment, such as people with disabilities, dislocated workers, women and minorities, and those on public assistance. It provides them with intensive, customized training, technical certifications, continuous skill upgrades, mentoring and well-paying entry-level technical positions with employers in their communities. The IC³ certification program will be offered initially in TechReach programs in Miami, Dallas, Chicago and Washington, D.C., with additional locations expected next year.

"The mission of Manpower's TechReach program is to provide today's businesses with a new source of work-ready skilled technical workers," said Branka Minic, Manpower director of workforce development. "A successful career in the technical field starts with a solid computer literacy and that is why we have decided to implement IC³ certification in our projects."

"This partnership between Manpower and Certiport completes a full solution that begins with upgrading candidate knowledge and skills in response to market needs, and placing them in meaningful jobs," stated David Saedi, executive vice president for Certiport. "This partnership addresses the skills shortage in the market, helps individuals advance, and is a fundamental building block impacting regional and national economic prosperity."

As a global, validated, standards-based certification program for basic computing and Internet literacy, IC³ provides specific guidelines for the knowledge and skills required to be a productive user of computer hardware, software, networks and the Internet. IC³ provides staffing companies another tool for distinguishing a job candidate's computing skills, which can help them to place qualified candidates in better jobs.

The IC³ Global Standard
An industry standard for measuring basic computer literacy for academia and the workplace, IC³ exam objectives were built by professional researchers, test developers, psychometricians and more than 270 subject matter experts (SMEs) in 19 countries -- all of whom contributed content and feedback and validated certification requirements. A student with IC³ certification not only has an understanding of computing fundamentals, key applications and online functionality, but also possesses the necessary foundation to excel into advanced technical and desktop application certifications.
