Certiport Adds IC³ Internet Exam Delivery
Certiport Reduces Administrative Costs for Testing Centers

NECC – NEW ORLEANS – June 22, 2004
Certiport® today announced the mid-summer launch of online delivery of Certiport Internet & Computing Core Certification (IC³ ®) testing. This new exam delivery enhancement reduces administrative complexity and eliminates hardware budget barriers for more than 3,000 existing testing centers and the 70-plus new centers that partner with Certiport each month. Previously requiring dedicated testing workstations, IC³ exams will now be available in secure, proctored environments through a Web browser. This is especially welcomed news for budget-strapped schools seeking to integrate IC³ as a dynamic and universal standard on which to base educational programs, ensuring that the latest computing and Internet fundamentals are being taught.

"Online access to IC³ exams eliminates the need for dedicated test stations and significantly simplifies test administration for Certiport Centers delivering IC³ digital literacy certifications," states David Saedi, CEO for Certiport. "This advancement will accelerate rollout in testing centers constrained by hardware configurations and budget limitations."

Auburn University in Auburn, Ala., has participated this past year in the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) NETS*T pilot program for rolling out IC³ in schools throughout the U.S. Because of its very favorable results and positive input from the Alabama Department of Education, Auburn is currently rolling out IC³ as a standard measurement for student digital skills in Business Education. They deliver the certification with curriculum that prepares future teachers for the technology demands of the classroom. Beginning in Fall 2004, all Business Education students will be required to take IC³ exams prior to graduation.

"We are delighted with this new online delivery enhancement to IC³," said Leane Skinner, Ed.D, assistant professor for Curriculum and Teaching in the Auburn University College of Education. "Browser based testing reduces setup time and increases the flexibility and mobility of our staff. Ultimately, this helps us reduce the costs related to certifying our students. It will also increase our ability to more quickly offer the certification to a broader audience."

IC³ is the leading certification for those desiring to demonstrate basic computing skills competence. Unlike assessments, IC³ has received international acclaim for its rigorous test creation, currency, and relevancy. Among its accolades are:

• ISTE - Certiport strategic alliance to provide IC³ for NETS
• Oxford, Cambridge & Royal Society for Arts (Computer Literacy & Information Technology –(United Kingdom) - IC³ endorsement
• ACT - Strategic Certiport Partner for all ACT testing centers
• American Council on Education (ACE) - IC³ recommended for College Credit
• National Skills Standards Board (NSSB) – IC³, the first recognized Computer Certification
• CompTIA - "IC³ as THE Starting Point for all ICT Careers"

Currently delivered by thousands of testing centers worldwide, IC³ is the first global, validated certification standard used to verify digital literacy, and its three exams cover essential concepts, such as Internet and e-mail use, basic hardware and software knowledge, and the ability to utilize common programs, including word processor and spreadsheet applications. IC³ offers individuals the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and certify their technology skills, while becoming more productive.
