Certiport Certification Offered Through 180 CompUSA Locations
SALT LAKE CITY – June 16, 2004 – Certiport® today announced
its collaboration with CompUSA and InfoSource, Inc., developer of training
and testing materials for computer software, to provide a complete digital
literacy solution including authorized courseware, online training, and Certiport
Internet & Computing Core Certification (IC³ ®) through CompUSA’s
Technology Training sales force throughout the United States. Under the agreement,
CompUSA clients will now be able to acquire IC³ online training courses
and testing directly from their CompUSA representative.
“This partnership provides a unique and complete solution using the approved
online training materials developed by InfoSource, CompUSA’s testing centers
and the Certiport IC³ exams,” stated David Saedi, CEO for Certiport. “CompUSA
students can now build their computer skills on the firm foundation of IC³ that
leads to more specialized training, certification and career advancement.”
“We are very excited to partner with Certiport and InfoSource to bring
our customers the opportunity to train for the IC³ certification exams,” said
Bill Maddox, VP of Business Services and Technology Training at CompUSA. “This
partnership will give our clients the ability to train and prepare their
workforce for the IC³ certification. A program like this will ultimately
boost productivity and increase retention of employees.”
“Our How To Master IC³ Training Solution is a perfect fit for CompUSA’s
clients who are looking to acquire basic PC skills and computer literacy,” said
Michael Werner, CEO of InfoSource. “In addition, CompUSA can deliver
Certiport’s
IC³ exams, which are gaining momentum as the recognized standard for
schools, corporations, and individuals striving to have their skills validated.”
IC³ is
the leading certification for those desiring to demonstrate basic computing
skills competence. It is the first global, validated standard used
to verify digital literacy, and the three exams cover essential concepts,
such as Internet and e-mail use, basic hardware and software knowledge, and
the
ability to utilize common programs, including word processor and spreadsheet
applications. IC³ offers individuals the opportunity to demonstrate
their knowledge and certify their technology skills, while becoming more
productive.
The new InfoSource How To Master IC³ online training course
is easily accessible from work, school, or home and allows learners to
prepare for each
of the three exams required to attain the IC³ designation independently.
The course is self-paced, allowing learners to progress at their own speed
and review lessons as often as desired to become more comfortable and proficient
with the concepts and tasks presented.
